Renuncia periodista que se burló de colega de la CBS abusada en Egipto

El último episodio de esta triste historia está relacionado con la renuncia que debió presentar el periodista y académico Nir Rosen, por haberse burlado de Logan en su cuenta de twitter.
Rosen escribió en uno de sus mensajes que Logan, quien dice que fue agredida y después abusada mientras cubría la caída del régimen de Mubarak. en la Plaza de Tahrir de El Cairo, había superado a su colega Anderson Cooper, de CNN, quien días antes recibió un fuerte golpe en la cabeza, en ese cubrimiento.
Por supuesto, la frivolidad del comentario y el tono irrespetuoso desató una ola de mensajes en contra de Rosen, quien no tuvo otra opción que presentar su renuncia al Center for Law and Security de la Universidad de Nueva York.
Antes de este episodio, los medios de los Estados Unidos se centraron en otra polémica relacionada con este caso. Algunos llegaron a cuestionar que la CBS, medio para el que trabaja Logan, decidió no divulgar la noticia, alegando que debía respetar el derecho a la intimidad de su colaboradora.
Logan, de 39 años, viajó de regresó a los Estados Unidos tras la agresión que sufrió. En ese país, recibió atención médica en un hospital y, después, decidió refugiarse con su familia, antes de retomar cualquier actividad profesional.
CBS News dijo en un comunicado que Logan trabajaba para el programa '60 Minutes' del 11 de febrero cuando ella y su equipo "fueron rodeados por una multitud de más de 200 personas que se pusieron frenéticas".
"En el bullicio de la multitud, ella fue separada de su equipo. Ella fue rodeada y sufrió una brutal y sostenida agresión sexual, que incluyó golpes, antes de ser salvada por un grupo de mujeres y unos 20 soldados egipcios", dijo la CBS.
Logan se hizo un nombre como corresponsal de guerra de la cadena británica GMTV en el inicio de la guerra en Afganistán, que comenzó en 2001, y posteriormente informó sobre el conflicto bélico en Irak y sus violentas consecuencias. La periodista se unió a CBS News en 2002.
El Comité para la Protección de Periodistas (CPJ, por sus siglas en inglés), una organización que lucha contra los abusos a la prensa, dijo que al menos 52 periodistas fueron atacados y 76 fueron encarcelados durante los disturbios en Egipto, que llevaron a la dimisión de Mubarak tras 30 años en el poder. Todos han sido liberados, dijo el organismo.
Ahmad Mohamed Mahmoud, un periodista del diario egipcio Al-Ta'awun, murió mientras grababa enfrentamientos cerca de la Plaza Tahrir, dijo la CPJ.
"El antiguo régimen de Egipto orquestó una feroz campaña para evitar la difusión de la noticia de este movimiento por el cambio", dijo Paul Steiger, miembro del comité directivo del organismo y ex editor gerente del 'The Wall Street Journal'.
Steiger habló en una conferencia de prensa para discutir el informe anual de la agrupación, que examinó las condiciones de trabajo de los periodistas en más de 100 países, y dijo que 44 periodistas murieron y 145 fueron encarcelados en 2010.
